Fundamental Rights

The core rights the Constitution promises every citizen (and, for some rights, every person) — like equality and free speech.

Fundamental Rights, enumerated in Part III of the Constitution, are enforceable directly against the State and include the right to equality, various freedoms, protection against certain criminal law abuses, the right to life and personal liberty, and the right to constitutional remedies, among others. A law inconsistent with them is void to the extent of the inconsistency.
