Seat of Arbitration

The 'legal home' of the arbitration, which decides which country's/court's arbitration rules apply — not necessarily where hearings physically happen.

The seat of arbitration determines the curial law governing the arbitration and which national courts have supervisory jurisdiction over it (for interim relief, or to set aside the award), and is a distinct concept from the mere physical 'venue' where hearings are convenient to hold.
